Getting to Ballan for BAF!
Ballan is a beautiful town set on the Werribee River, located in Moorabool Shire and is a hub for the adjacent towns in the district.
Ballan and it’s surrounds is home to the Watharong people, part of the Kulin nation.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of Ballan, the Watharong people of the Kulin nation, on which our festival is held.
We pay our respects to all elders past, present and emerging.
After gold was discovered in Ballan in 1851 during the goldrush, the town began to grow, many of the old buildings are still here today – such as the old Courthouse, Hotel, Post Office, and Mechanics Institute. Ballan is represtented in the State Government seat of Buninyong, and the Federal ward of Ballarat.
Today it is known for it’s location, friendly people, rural vibe, and the amazing Autumn Leaves and Trees that garnish the main street which the festival parade follows.
The township is well connected to the rest of Victoria by;
- The Western Highway (M8),
- The V/Line rail line (timetable); and
- the main Ballan-Geelong Road.
Making it very easy to get to!
