Getting to Ballan for #BAF2019
Ballan is a beautiful town set on the Werribee River, located in Moorabool Shire and is a hub for the adjacent towns in the district.
Ballan and it’s surrounds is home to the Wautharong people, part of the Kulin nation. Today it is in the Local Government seat of Buninyong, and the Federal ward of Ballarat.
After gold was discovered in Ballan in 1851 during the goldrush, the town began to grow, many of the old buildings are still here today – such as the old Courthouse, Hotel, Post Office, and Mechanics Institute. Today it is known for it’s location, friendly people, rural vibe, and the amazing Autumn Leaves and Trees that garnish the main street which the festival parade follows.
The township is well connected to the rest of Victoria by; The Western Highway (M8), The V/Line rail line; and the main Ballan-Geelong Road. Making it very easy to get to!
